Grenfell Tower - Poetry as a Response to Tragedy

In June 2017, a fire swept through a public housing tower in London.

Over 60 people lost their lives.

The local community was devastated by the fire and found a variety of ways to express their emotions about the tragedy.

For some, poetry and song has given them a way to share their experiences and deliver a powerful message about the loss of lives.

What is a Eulogy?

Ben Okri's poem has been described as a eulogy to the residents of the Tower who lost their lives. Do you agree?

  • A eulogy poem is a dedication to the deceased from a family member or close friend. You can recite the eulogy poem at the funeral service or publish the poem in the funeral program.
