Temptation of Jesus

Having exhausted everyway of putting him to the test, the devil left him, until the opportune moment.

We hear the story of Jesus’ temptation  in the Gospel of Luke. Everyone knows about the three temptations of Jesus. Personal pleasure, glory and power – Jesus overcame those temptations because he had solid foundation that he belongs to God alone and he was very certain about his purpose on earth which was “Doing the will of His Father”.

Thomas Brooks explains in his book, Precious Remedies against Satan’s devices. He uses the analogy that temptation is nothing more than the bait on a hook.

What are the baits – Is it food, money, laziness …..

Let us be not get caught on the hook.
