The Parable of the Prodigal Son

by Chitra Justin on 2019-03-13T01:00:00+08:00 | 0 Comments

The parable of the Prodigal son is a very well known parable to all of us . The elder brother who was resentful because their father seemed to care more for this younger son who had done the wrong thing. The father threw a large party for his returning son who he was delighted to have back, but every day he had kept his elder son alive, supplying him with all he needed.

The Gospel reminds us of God’s unconditional love for us and how he waits for us to return back to him when we turn back to him or go away from him.

Time to Reflect

Which are you, the younger or older son?

Do you look at what others have and think why them and not me?

Action for the Week

God’s mercy is endless; we only need to reach out to God, who will respond to us with unconditional love. This week take time to thank God for all he has given to us.

Prayer

Lord our God, bringer of peace and reconciliation, teach us to live as people who are filled with the joy of all that you have given us. May our faith and love bring support and consolation to all those in need. Guide us with the example of your Son so we may live by your Word daily. Amen
